Antique Hungarian Folk Pottery Covered Tureen (c. 1880–1910)
Authentic late 19th–early 20th century Hungarian folk pottery covered tureen, hand-thrown and hand-decorated in a traditional village workshop. The piece features a rich olive-green and dark brown lead glaze with stylized floral decoration in cream, yellow, and rust tones, along with applied side handles, pedestal foot, and its original matching lid.
The interior shows visible wheel-thrown spiral marks and a plain slipped glaze typical of utilitarian Hungarian household wares. The base bears hand-incised cursive markings made before glazing, consistent with period potter signatures or owner inscriptions. No factory or molded marks are present.
A strong, authentic example of Central European folk art pottery with honest wear consistent with age.
Ideal for collectors of European folk art, antique ceramics, or rustic decorative pottery.
